Iphone iOs 5 beta released!

Hey all, it has been a while since i have posted and for that i apologise.

Anyway during the time i was gone there has been a lot going on in the iphone/ipod jailbreaking community. I will keep you updated. In the meanwhile apple has released its Ios 5 beta firmware for apple developers only in preparation for their iphone 5 or possibly iPhone 4s until now it is unknown. Apple have prevented developers from downgrading back to ios 4 regardless whether you have you shsh blobs saved. Hackers have not only found a way to release the iphone 5 firmware to the public, but instead they have found a way to downgrade to firmware 4 also :)

Anyway there have been 6 beta's released so far and a final release is expected some time in september. I would personally recommend using ios5 beta 5 as my experience hasn't been good with beta 6 (had a reboot loop, needed to do full restore few times). I have personally tried this method in my iphone 3g[s] Users who rely on an unlock you are advised NOT to update to 5.0 as this will also upgrade your baseband!!! i also do not recommend using snowbreeze for this method. I will post the tutorial for downloading ios 5, installing it and also how to downgrade to ios5. The following devices will be getting the ios5 upgrade.

-iPhone 3g[s](old and new bootrom)
-iPhone 4
-iPod touch 3g (32/64gb versions only)
-iPad 1 wifi and 3g
-iPad 2 wifi and 3g (jailbreak not supported)

unfortunately for 3g users, your voyage ends here. There will be no more support for 3g devices anymore as they do not meet the requirements of the new firmware.

Install iOS 5 beta 5 on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch without Developers Account:

Warning, this requires a jailbreak, if you don't want to jailbreak please don't continue. You have been warned! This is also a tethered jailbreak which means that you have to connect the iphone to your computer every time you power it off.

All download links will be provided below :)

Step 1: Download iOS 5 beta 5 ipsw for your iOS device and also download iTunes 10.5 beta 5 so that your device is able to be synchronized.

Step 2: Place your iphone into restore mode. To do this, plug your phone in, hold down home and power button together until the screen turns off. Then, release the power button whilst holding the home button for another 10 seconds. Restore your device to iOS 5 beta 5 by holding down the 'shift' button and click restore. This process will take about 10 min, but be sure to backup you data. Once finished it will load but don’t set it up. Before you do that, it is imperative that you jailbreak it. To jailbreak iOS 5 beta 5 on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, you need to download redsn0w which is linked below Keep in mind that this won’t work on iPad 2. After jailbreak is done, boot the device tethered.

Step 3: Now to jailbreak! Download Redsn0w from below, click browse and point to the ios5 beta 5 firmware (link wll be below). Then select 'install cydia' and click next.
It will then prompt you with instructions on how to put your device into DFU mode. Once redsnow has completed, dont let the phone boot, instead put it back into DFU and run redsnow again with the same steps, but instead of selecting 'install cydia' click 'just boot tethered right now'(you will have to repeat this step if you ever turn your device off)

Step 4: Now you need to go in to the filesystem of your iDevice so that you delete a key and a string. Download i-Funbox for Windows or iPhone Explorer for Mac to navigate into the filesystem. I personally use Diskaid which is for windows and mac

Step 5: Run the software and follow this path: filesystem/library/coreservices/systemversion.plist. Upon locating this .plist file, Right click on systemversion.plist and then open it in notepad. This is what you have to remove: ReleaseType beta. Remove this key and string and then save it.

Step 6: Now reboot your device. Since its jailbroken, you’ll obviously have to boot it tethered. Your device will now work perfectly fine on iOS 5 beta 5 without requiring a UDID registration. Those using iPhone will also be able to access cellular services.

*Note: Software unlocked iPhone users should stay away from stock firmware at all costs as you will lose your unlock. Factory unlock or carrier locked iPhones users can try this out without any worries.

If you face any difficulties in any part of this procedure, don’t hesitate to ask us for help commenting here or emailing us. Also if you get stuck with putting your device with DFU, check out some youtube videos :)
